Where is the happiest spot in Murcia? New study reveals the answer
New research highlights the sunshine, services and easy-going living that make Murcia’s top towns stand out for happiness

If life on the sunny Spanish coast has always seemed idyllic, a recent survey now proves there’s good reason for it. The Spain Happy Index 2025 has named Los Alcázares as the happiest town in the
Region of Murcia, securing an impressive 89.77 points out of 100 and placing it in the top ten nationally.
That’s quite a coup for this Mar Menor gem, which boasts a climate so inviting it’s hard not to smile - think 332 days of sunshine, just 27 days of rain, and a lovely average temperature of 20 degrees. With its bright days, coastal charm and nearby airport, Los Alcázares offers more than just a beach life. The town’s solid provision of schools and hospitals has also helped push it up the well-being ladder.
“This just confirms that the Region of Murcia provides a privileged environment in which to live, with a unique climate and a quality of life that attracts both residents and those seeking a second home,” says Alfredo Millá, CEO of Sonneil.
But Los Alcázares isn’t alone in this feel-good story. The Murcia coastline has plenty to boast about. Mazarrón comes in with 82.98 points, benefiting from an impressive 307 sunny days a year plus a warm 21-degree average. Águilas is close behind, also maintaining a spot among the happiest, with mild weather and beaches drawing visitors and residents alike.
Further inland, towns like Lorca and Fuente Álamo make the list too, with Lorca enjoying remarkably few rainy days and highlighting its cultural attractions and helpful services. Even Murcia’s capital city earns its place, with ample sun, a lively culture and a strong network of hospitals and universities showing that happiness isn’t just for the coast.
Torre-Pacheco is another bright spot, known for its stable weather and low winds, which adds to its appeal, particularly for those looking for comfort and tranquillity in daily life.
In fact, across Spain, Mediterranean towns and the islands lead the way for well-being, with
Málaga,
Alicante, Ibiza, and Santa Pola all rating highly thanks to their sunny weather, strong community life and first-rate infrastructure.
According to the Sonneil Happy Index 2025, key ingredients for happiness include not just the weather, but also access to good services, proximity to airports, and surroundings that invite a sense of well-being.
So for anyone considering a move or just wanting to enjoy the good life, the Region of Murcia’s blend of sunny days, seaside towns and welcoming communities is certainly worth a closer look.
