Until April 25 University canoeing regatta in Santiago de la Ribera
Four regional institutions and the Universidad Juan Carlos I from Madrid compete for the trophy in the Mar Menor
The 25th Inter-University canoeing regatta of Spain is being held from 21st to 25th April in the Mar Menor off the seafront walks of Colón, Atalayón and Castillitos, with the main events taking place at Playa Barnuevo on Saturday 25th April between 9.00 and 14.00.
Over the last quarter of a century the event has served as a spotlight in which the attractions of the Mar Menor as a water sports destination have been promoted to university students all over Spain, and this year the universities taking part are three from the Region of Murcia (Universidad de Murcia or UMU, Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena or UPCT and UCAM San Antonio, along with the Air Force officer training academy in San Javier and the Universidad Juan Carlos I from Madrid. All of them are competing with teams in the men’s, women’s, mixed, teachers and staff categories.
In the previous three editions the winners were UCAM in 2023 and 2025 and the UMU in 2024.
