Until September 14 Exhibition of sculpture and paintings by Alfonso Núñez in Alhama
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
El Valor de Un Mundo Propio at the Museo Arqueológico Los Baños in Alhama de Murcia
The Los Baños archaeological museum in Alhama de Murcia is holding a retrospective exhibition of work by local artist Alfonso Núñez until the end of August, featuring some of his most representative metal sculptures and paintings.
The sculpture, the speciality for which Núñez is best known, is displayed in the gardens of the museum while the paintings, of course, are inside, and remarkably the artist received no training in metalwork, having taught himself while completing his military service.
During the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Núñez expressed his love for the work of Miguel de Cervantes, and in fact the theme of Don Quijote is a constantly recurring one throughout his career.
Alfonso Núñez ha indicado durante la inauguración de la muestra que comenzó de manera autodidacta con sus creaciones artísticas durante el servicio militar. "Nadie me enseñó. Ni a nadie vi yo cómo pintaba", ha explicado
The museum is temporarily closed for repairs and renovation until June 30, but after that the opening hours are as follows:
Tuesday to Saturday 10.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 20.00
Sundays: 10.00 to 14.00
