Until October 9 Lorca exhibition of posters from 100 years of tourism in Murcia

100 años de turismo en la Región de Murcia at the Palacio de Guevara in Lorca

This exhibition at the magnificent venue of the Palacio de Guevara in Lorca is being held to celebrate 100 years of tourism in the Region of Murcia, and offers a visual recap of some of the images which are most representative of how the Costa Cálida grew into the tourist attraction it is today.

On display are 74 posters, photographs, postcards, leaflets, early tourist guidebooks, historical travel books and other materials, capturing a little of the spirit of how tourism has been promoted since 1926. One section is devoted entirely to fiestas and traditions, with pride of place being given to the local Semana Santa celebrations in Lorca.

Overall, the display is divided into five historical periods, with special attention paid to themes such as the early visitors, spa resorts, the arrival of the railway and fiestas, while the final part is concerned with the transformation to the current model of tourism, including culture, nature, gastronomy and new experiences. At the same time, it is an interesting look back at how promotion was approached int eh past, from the first lithographs to the current graphic design and digital promotion.

The exhibition can be visited from Tuesdays to Saturdays between 10.30 and 14.00 and from 17.00 to 20.00, and on Sundays from 10.30 to 14.00.
