Until January 5 The municipal nativity scene in Caravaca de la Cruz
Over 400 figures in the tableau on display at the former church of the Compañía de Jesús
The municipal nativity scene in Caravaca de la Cruz is one of the most impressive in the Region of Murcia, consisting of more than 400 figures distributed in different scenes, most of them created by the skilled local craftspeople Jesús Griñán e Isabel Tornero.
This festive season the tableau can be seen at the former church of the Compañía de Jesús, where it has been assembled slightly differently from the layout of recent years, in an effort to recreate in more detail various of the scenes associated with the birth of Christ, and the scene can be visited until 5th January inclusive from 11.00 to 13.30 and between 17.30 and 20.30.
(Note: exceptions are Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, when visiting hours are limited to the morning, and New Year’s Day, when the building is closed to the public all day.)
So, if you’re in the north-west of the Region of Murcia this Christmas or New Year, why not pop in and admire the craftsmanship and dedication involved in creating the scene, and indeed the splendour of the building which houses it!
