San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:
Send an email to editor@spaintodayonline.com or contact@murciatoday.com
Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb

Until January 17 Annual fiestas in the Caravaca village of Navares
The feast day of San Antonio Abad falls on January 17
Although there are only around 300 residents, the village of Navares, near Barranda in the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz, celebrates the feast day of its patron saint, San Antonio Abad (or San Antón) in January with plenty of gusto, devotion and noise, and this year the annual fiestas program is as follows:
Saturday January 4
14.00: Migas for all.
15.00: Inflatable fun for children.
16.00: Live music from Fraguel Pop.
20.00: DJ music throughout the evening.
Tuesday January 6
17.00: The village celebrates Three Kings with a Grand Bingo, prizes include a 65-inch TV! Roscón de Reyes cake and cider for all.
Friday January 9
20.00: The people of the village gather to have dinner, preceded by a tasting of home-made meat products in the Salón Social.
22.00: Traditional music and dancing with the Animeros group.
Saturday January 10
13.30: The 27th annual Taps Fiesta begins!
15.00: Bouncy castles etc.
16.00: Live music from La Senda.
21.00: DJ music begins, lasting throughout the evening.
Sunday January 11
11.00: The young men of the village begin the search for firewood, to be used in cooking the traditional meal.
12.00: Children’s entertainment.
18.00: “La Tarde Mágica”, an evening of entertainment begins.
Friday January 16
Midnight: The traditional San Antón bonfire is lit.
Saturday January 17
12.00: Holy Mass in honour of San Antón with a floral offering and a procession of the figure of the Saint.
14.00: Paella for all at the Salón.
16.00: Float and costume parade.
21.00: FIRE PARTY 2026 with ALCAFLY and DJs.
1.00: Fireworks to mark the end of the fiestas.
