Until February 27 Exhibition in memory of Antonio Valero in Lorca
Fascinating artistic tributes at the Huerto Ruano venue in Lorca
Lorca is currently paying tribute to local artist Antonio Valero, who founded the Cristina Arcas Valero arts foundation in the city, through an exhibition at the Huerto Ruano venue under the title of “Viviendo y aprendiendo”.
Antonio Valero Torres passed away recently and this exhibition is dedicated exclusively to his life and his collection of artistic and other treasures, including works by artists such as Manuel Belzunce, Manuel Coronado and Mercedes Brinquis as well as native Lorca painters Emiliano Rojo and Francisco Cayuela. There are also items related to literature, including two original works by Federico García Lorca dated in Murcia in 1933: these have been donated to the foundation by Manuel Coronado from Águilas, who also recently contributed an oil painting by Pedro Flores named “La Crucifixión”.
Another interesting painting is a recreation of Antonio Valero’s professional office which was located at Calle Joaquín Espín nº 1, a watercolour by Santiago Madrid Mota.
