Guidelines for submitting articles to San Javier Today
Hello, and thank you for choosing sanjavier.today to publicise your organisation’s info or event.
San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:
Send an email to editor@spaintodayonline.com or contact@murciatoday.com
Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb

Traffic disruptions across Cartagena this Friday and Saturday due to the Cycling Tour and Carnival
Expect road closures, short traffic stops and bus changes across Cartagena and nearby towns as the Cycling Tour and Carnival take place

This Friday and Saturday, roads across Cartagena and some nearby towns will be affected by the Cycling Tour Vuelta Ciclista a la Región de Murcia 2026 and a Carnival parade. There will be some further disruption across Cartagena city as they will also be repainting some bike lanes.
The police are asking people to plan their route carefully, move cars from affected streets, and follow signs to avoid fines or towing.
Friday February 13 – Cycling Tour
The race starts in Cartagena and will pass through Los Alcázares, San Javier, Santiago de la Ribera, and then inland towards Yecla.
Cartagena - Street Closures:
- Paseo Alfonso XII, from Plaza de la Isla to Calle Joaquín Navarro Coromina
- Calle Real towards Plaza de España
- Calle Menéndez y Pelayo
- Plaza de España, from Calle Menéndez y Pelayo to Alameda de San Antón
- Alameda de San Antón towards Plaza María Cristina
- Calle Jorge Juan towards Plaza Severo Ochoa
- Plaza Severo Ochoa, from Calle Jorge Juan to Avenida Víctor Beltrí
- Avenida Víctor Beltrí towards Ctra. RM-F36
Cars parked in these streets, especially Plaza de España, Alameda de San Antón and Calle Jorge Juan, must be moved by 7:00am or they’ll be towed.

San Javier (Approx. 11:50 am–12:27pm):
Entry via N-332 from Los Alcázares
- Avenida Mar Menor
- Avenida Aviación Española (Sprint Intermedio by the Youth Council)
- Calle Alcántara
- Avenida Pinatar
- Avenida Miguel Ángel Blanco (feed zone)
Traffic will be stopped for 15-20 minutes along these streets.

Los Alcázares (Approx. 11:15am–12:15pm):
- Entry via RM-F30
- Avenida 13 de Octubre
- Avenida Libertad
- Exit via N-332 towards San Javier
Traffic will be stopped for 15-20 minutes along these streets.
Carnival Parade in Cartagena (09:30am–10:30am)
School Carnival celebrations will close:
- Calle San Juan
- Alameda de San Antón up to Calle Pintor Balaca
- Calle Ramón y Cajal, from Calle Pintor Balaca to Paseo Alfonso XIII
- Calle Ingeniero de La Cierva, Calle Grecia to Ronda Ciudad de La Unión
- Avenida Venecia in Polígono de San Ana
Bus Line 5 Changes (February 12-13)
The La Vaguada-Santa Lucía route will skip Santa Lucía these two days and run along Paseo del Muelle, stopping at the Consultorio Médico.
Saturday February 14 - Bike Lane Repainting
Traffic will be limited from 08:00am to 12:00pm on Calle San Pio XII and Calle Real towards Paseo Alfonso XII.
Plan your route carefully, give yourself extra travel time, and follow the local signs and police instructions.
