Three-year-old girl drowns in private pool in Málaga
Emergency services called to a home in Alhaurín de la Torre were sadly unable to save the child
A three-year-old girl has tragically died after drowning in a swimming pool in Alhaurín de la Torre, Málaga.
The incident happened on Monday afternoon, 4 August, at a private property in the town. According to a statement from 112 Andalucía, the emergency services received a call via the 061 Health Emergency Centre alerting them to a possible drowning at a chalet in the area.
Local police, the Guardia Civil and paramedics were quickly sent to the scene. However, despite their efforts, the young girl could not be revived and her death was confirmed at the property.
A judicial investigation has now been opened, as is standard in cases of accidental death.
This heartbreaking case comes just weeks after a two-year-old British boy drowned in a villa pool while on holiday in Ibiza in June.
No further details have been released at this stage.
