Summer 2025 Leonardo da Vinci activities for all the family at the Castillo de la Concepción in Cartagena
An escape room and a dramatized tour coincide with the Da Vinci exhibition in the castle which looks out over Cartagena
Continuing with the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition in the Castillo de la Concepción in Cartagena, the Puerto de Culturas tourist organization is holding a fun dramatized code-breaking game for all the family on Friday afternoons during the summer.
Based on the theories surrounding the Mona Lisa, painted by Leonardo between 1503 and 1519, the game is filled with famous people from the past, ancient maps and secret codes so that youngsters can enjoy a real adventure while immersing themselves in the history of the Early Modern period in northern Italy. The activity is entitled “Leonardo y Gioconda: Atrapados en el Tiempo”, and combines history with humour and fantasy as Leonardo and the Mona Lisa are accidentally transported in time to the 21st century and are, to put it mildly, rather disorientated!
As they try to comprehend what has happened the participants in the adventure help them to find a way to travel back to their own time, making their way around the castle as they do so and of course seeing the Da Vinci exhibition which is being held there throughout the summer.
The dramatized visit begins at the top of the panoramic lift every Friday at 18.00 and registration costs 15 euros.
Alongside this, an escape room game called “El Códice Secreto de Leonardo” is also being held on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons, another interesting way of learning more about the secrets of the Renaissance genius. In this activity the participants are enclosed in a secret workshop belonging to Da Vinci where they have to solve puzzles and manipulate mechanical devices in order to decode fragments of his legendary Codex Atlanticus.
The escape room begins at 18.00 and registration costs 10 euros.
All tickets are available in advance online here, where other activities and guided visits can also be booked, or by telephone on 968 500093.
