Spain weather forecast April 23-26: Sunshine continues with highs of 30 degrees
Temperatures in most of Spain will stay well above the norm over the weekend, although the east and south will feel the chill mid-week
Average temperatures expected on Sunday April 26
Spain has been enjoying some unusually warm weather lately, with
temperatures hitting 30°C in parts of the country over recent days. Things dipped slightly on Tuesday and Wednesday, but it's stayed warmer than you'd normally expect for late April, and that's set to continue through most of the coming days, even if there are a few fluctuations along the way.
Thursday April 23 looks like a warm one for much of inland Spain. Temperatures inland, particularly across the north, are expected to climb again, with highs of between 28°C and 30°C possible in parts of Castilla y León, Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha,
Andalucía and much of Extremadura. The upper Ebro Valley could also push past 28°C, and cities like Bilbao and Logroño might reach 29°C.
The east and some northern areas will be cooler by comparison, with
Valencia expected to top out at around 23°C, Barcelona at 22°C, and A Coruña and Gijón around 20°C. Still warm for the time of year though, even at the lower end.
Friday April 24 is where things change a little. Cloud cover and increasing atmospheric instability will push temperatures down across a good chunk of the country, with the most noticeable drop coming across central and south-eastern areas. Albacete,
Murcia, Almería and parts of Granada and Jaén are expected to fall below 20°C, as will higher ground elsewhere.
Most of the country will sit somewhere between 20°C and 25°C, with only parts of Andalucia, the Guadiana valley in Extremadura and the Ebro basin across Navarra, La Rioja, Aragón and Lleida likely to get above 25°C or 26°C. Overnight lows will stay relatively mild though, running around 2°C to 6°C above what's normal for this time of year, and staying at or above 10°C across large parts of the country.
The cooler spell won't last long. Temperatures are expected to start recovering on Saturday April 25, especially across the north-east and parts of western Spain, although eastern Cantabria and southern Andalucía may see some cloud and thunderstorms keeping things a little fresher. Even so, highs above 20°C will be the norm across almost all of mainland Spain on Saturday.
Sunday April 26 is looking like the pick of the weekend for most people. Conditions will be more settled than the days before, and temperatures are forecast to rise across the board while overnight lows dip a little. There's still a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the north-west and parts of the south-east as well as the Balearic Islands, but elsewhere it's shaping up to be a largely clear and sunny day.
