

Guidelines for submitting articles to San Javier Today
Hello, and thank you for choosing sanjavier.today to publicise your organisation’s info or event.
San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:

Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb
September 27 and 28 Complete free guided tours of the history, architecture and gastronomy of Yecla
Four stop-off points are planned in Yecla at which cultural activities and tastings are provided
The local tourism authorities in Yecla are celebrating World Tourism Day 2025, which has adopted the motto “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation”, with a special activity on 27th and 28th September which consists of a tour of some of the most iconic sites of the town.
The tour begins on both days at 10.30 and this is a leisurely stroll, which a pause at each stop during a brief explanation given (in Spanish) of the significance and history of the monuments visited. In addition, complementary activities are provided related to local culture, arts and crafts and gastronomy, including the tasting of some of the wines for which Yecla is justifiably renowned.
On each day a maximum of 4 groups of 25 people will be formed, follwoing a route which traces the history of Yecla from the 16th to the 19th century, with the stop-off points as follows:
- The church of San Roque, where Extra Virgin olive oil from the local Deortegas is tasted with bread from Panadería Zenón.
- The Capilla de la Virgen de las Angustias chapel, where a brief recital of baroque music is provided.
- The Basílica de la Purísima, with a tasting of the typical local “Libricos” confectionary in the Plaza de España.
- The Teatro Concha Segura, with wine tasting included.
