Guidelines for submitting articles to San Javier Today
Hello, and thank you for choosing sanjavier.today to publicise your organisation’s info or event.
San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:
Send an email to editor@spaintodayonline.com or contact@murciatoday.com
Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb

September 18 to October 5 Annual fiestas of El Mirador in San Javier
A fortnight of celebration in El Mirador, San Javier, with music, food and more
From September 19 to October 4 the village of El Mirador in San Javier comes alive with a packed programme of events, including live performances by top artists, traditional dance shows, fireworks, delicious food and drinks and exciting games and activities for all ages.
The El Mirador fiestas in honour of the Virgen del Rosario actually run from mid-August in honour of the town’s patron saint, but the main events will place from late September onwards.
Highlights of the 2026 programme include the following:
Friday September 18
Official opening of the fiestas and the opening of the fairground.
Saturday September 19
10.30: Water party for children with inflatable slides etc, followed by a snack, at the fairground.
11.00: The "barracas" open, open-air kiosks and bars. Sports competitions and live entertainment.
19.30: Procession in memory of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, followed by Mass in the church. The procession leaves from the church of San Javier and reaches Parque Almansa.
22.00: The election and crowning of the fiestas queen and other dignitaries of the events.
Sunday September 20
8.00: The traditional country hike of Antonio “El Sheriff”, beginning at the Centro Cívico in El Mirador.
12.00: The fiestas groups get together for lunch at the fairground.
18.00: Charity raffle at the fairground.
Friday September 25
Midnight: a tribute concert to El Barrio entitled “He Vuelto”, at the fairground.
Saturday September 26
21.30: A homage to singer Manolo Escobar with Juan Punzano at the fiestas marquee on Avenida Cetramirsa in El Mirador.
23.30: Reggaeton Fest.
Friday October 2
23.00: Entertainment with “Marlene” at the fairground.
Saturday October 3
21.00: Serendipity, a musical variety parade and show.
22.00: Live music with Salitre at the fiestas marquee.
Sunday October 4
21.00: The procession of the figure of the Virgen del Rosario (her feast day actually falls on 7th October).
23.00: Comedy monologues with Ismael Gallego and Marco Antonio Castaño.
Monday October 5
The final day of the fiestas features a giant paella for lunch with enough to go round all those attending, and then in the evening a giant potato omelette.
