September 18 to 26 Art exhibition by Nono García in Lorca

“Blanca Huella” at the Aula Cultural de Cajamurcia in Lorca

During the Feria Grande in Lorca in the latter part of September the Aula Cultural de Cajamurcia in Lorca (click for map) is holding an exhibition of work by artist Nono García under the title of “Blanca Huella”.

García is a well-known artist and his design was chosen this year to feature on the official poster for the Semana Santa celebrations in Lorca, featuring white and blue carnations to represent the two main groups who compete in a friendly rivalry to put on the most spectacular displays in the main processions every Easter Week.

The works on display are a combination of the artistic talent of Nono García and the identity of the Paso Blanco group, and they can be seen as of Thursday 17^th September in the Aula Cultural in Calle Pío XII.

Nono García (real name Antonio García Sánchez) was born in Mula and is now one of the leading figures in Spanish figurative painting, especially renowned for his watercolours and still lifes. Among his main influences are Antonio López, Pedro Cano and Ramón Gaya, and he is a brilliant portrayer of light, transparency and atmosphere. He has exhibited all over the world, not only in Spain but also in Italy, USA, Russia and Lithuania, for example, as well as his work featuring in collections like that of the Gabarrón Foundation in Nueva York.
