

Guidelines for submitting articles to San Javier Today
Hello, and thank you for choosing sanjavier.today to publicise your organisation’s info or event.
San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:
Send an email to editor@spaintodayonline.com or contact@murciatoday.com
Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb
September 17 to 21 Annual fiestas in La Manga del Mar Menor
The annual fiestas in La Manga are being held this year in late September
Many seaside towns in Spain program their annual fiestas to coincide with the influx of summer visitors, but in La Manga the locals wait until the tourists have gone to celebrate that they have their normal routine restored!
This year the fiestas are taking place from September 17 to 21, when stalls and open-air bars and eateries are being set up in the Plaza Bohemia, the location of the opening ceremony on Wednesday 17th September at 20.00. These establishments open every evening until Sunday, and alongside there are food tasting activities, live music, a karaoke contest, a magic show, flamenco music from Carlos Piñana, a tribute to Queen and fireworks.
The programme for the five days includes the following:
Wednesday September 17
18.00: The fiestas fairground opens.
19.00: Presenter Fran Sáez, known for his appearances on regional television, hosts proceedings.
20.00: The opening speech is given by members of the Jimbee Cartagena 5-a-side football team.
21.00: Live music begins.
22.00: Live music from Orquesta Platino.
2.00: The fairground closes.
Thursday September 18
12.00: Stalls and stands open.
12.30: Gastronomic workshop.
20.00: Live music from Nueva Ruta.
22.00: Live music from Alta Tensión.
Midnight: More music from DJ Evaristo ShowMan.
2.30: The fairground closes.
Friday September 19
12.00: Stalls and stands open.
12.30: Gastronomic workshop.
19.00: Medusa’s Cake photocall.
20.00: Taekwondo demonstration.
20.45: Karaoke competition.
23.00: Nostalgic music with Paco García, Chumi DJ, DJ Lo & DJ Robert.

Saturday September 20

13.00: Gatetemon children’s concert.
18.00: Medusa’s Cake t-shirt workshop.

19.00: Magic show with Guillermo Avilés.

22.00: Queen Alive tribute concert.
Midnight: Fireworks.
00.30: More music with DJ Sira Fushion.
3.30: The fairground closes.
Sunday September 21
10.00: Motorcycle rally.
11.00: Paddle Surf at MasKite (reservations on 608 547893).
12.00: Stalls and stands open.
14.00: Rock and roll with Motorcity.
17.00: The official end of the fiestas.
