Scenic stroll from San Pedro to La Manga now open

Less than 3km of coastal bliss linking promenades, salt flats and sea views

Scenic stroll from San Pedro to La Manga now openFancy a gentle wander along Murcia's stunning coast? This delightful walking route from San Pedro del Pinatar to La Manga del Mar Menor has been spotlighted as a must-do for locals and visitors alike. At less than 3km, it starts right on the charming Paseo de la Mota promenade in the heart of San Pedro, weaving its way south through natural wonders.

You'll meander through the Regional Park of Las Salinas and Arenales, soaking up salt flats, dunes and birdlife with flamingos often in view. Pass windmills standing tall, mud baths in Lo Pagán where people relax under the sun, and that magical spot where Mar Menor meets the Mediterranean. One happy explorer summed it up: "It's a route that connects two emblematic points of our coast, from San Pedro to La Manga, passing through the salt flats where you can see all kinds of birds." Another vivid note captures the scene: "You walk between the Mar Menor and the salt flats, among windmills and people covered in mud basking in the sun."

Parking could not be easier at Molino Quintín, so you can hop out and start straight away. Once you've worked up an appetite, nearby restaurants dish up fresh seafood and local treats for a well-deserved bite. Stick around for views over beaches like La Puntica and Villananitos on the lagoon side, or La Llana and Torre derribada facing the open sea.

The Ayuntamiento of San Pedro del Pinatar is championing this path as a simple pleasure for all. Comfortable shoes and a hat are all you need, no fancy gear required. Those Mar Menor sunsets will leave you glowing, with pinks and oranges lighting up the sky.

Living here in Spain, we cherish these doorstep gems. Whether you're a keen walker or just after a refreshing change from the beach chair, round up a friend and give it a go. It's the kind of outing that recharges the soul.
