San Javier announces the dates of the 2026 air show at the FITUR fair in Madrid
Other key dates in the diary have also been confirmed as San Javier showcases its tourist attractions
Estíbaliz Masegosa, the Councillor for Tourism in the municipal council of San Javier, has described the visit of a delegation from the municipality to the huge FITUR tourism fair in Madrid last week as a great success, highlighting the popularity of the cultural programme, the air show and the participation of San Javier in the Murcia Entierro de la Sardina festival a week after Easter, all included under the promotional slogan “San Javier, San Bien”
During FITUR 2026 a number of meetings were held with tour operators and other agents within the sector, some from the Mar Menor area and others from all over Spain. Great interest was shown in the cultural programme, particularly the jazz festival and the annual theatre festival, where Councillor David Martínez (Culture) announced that there would be a strong Asian presence this year due to the presence of Yamato from Japan and the Tao Dance Theatre from China.
The 2026 Air Show, it has now been confirmed, will be held from 1st to 3rd May, including the exhibition flights and a host of activities for all the family in Santiago de la Ribera.
Prior to that, though, San Javier will be playing an important part in the 175th edition of the Entierro de la Sardina festival which is taking place on 11th April, as it is from here that the giant papier mâché sardine sets out to the city of Murcia to be ceremonially burnt!
