Property in Los Nietos
The more modern properties in Los Nietos are on the higher ground behind the town
The town of Los Nietos grew alongside its popularity as a seaside destination for residents of Murcia and Cartagena in the second half of the twentieth century, and as a result most of the residential property in the centre dates from this period. Apart from a few older buildings which were inhabited by fishermen prior to the growth of beach tourism, the majority are low-rise apartment blocks or individual houses which now appear a little dated.
However, further inland, nearer the top of the small hill which stands behind the shore, are newer residential developments which contain the kind of houses and chalets which tend to be more attractive to non-Spanish buyers. These are located within comfortable walking distance of the town centre with its shops, bars, restaurants and other amenities, which include the medical centre, the local primary school and the railway stations which provides a direct link to the city of Cartagena.
Similar residential properties exist at the eastern and western ends of the town, where more modern terraced houses have been built as Los Nietos has expanded over the last few years, providing a range of property options which have turned the local community into a far more international one than it was a couple of decades ago.
The town as a whole is an attractive one in terms of location, due not only to its beach-front setting but also to the proximity of La Manga, Cartagena and the airports of Murcia and Alicante-Elche.
