Popular Águilas beaches to be cleared on sea grass just in time for summer
Permission has only recently been issued for Posidonia sea grass to be re moved from the beaches of Calabardina and La Cola
Just in time for the summer season, with the warm weather appearing to have installed itself in the Costa Cálida for the foreseeable future, the Town Hall of Águilas has announced that permission has at last been given for the Posidonia sea grass which has accumulated during the last few months on the beaches of Calabardina and La Cola to be removed, and work to do so will start immediately.
The local government says it has been waiting for more tan a month for the permission to be issued by the Natural Environment authorities of the regional government in Murcia, but it was not until Wednesday 20th May that the required permission was received. Mayor Cristóbal Casado reiterates that at all times his administration has acted within the law and in good faith, and that the commitment to clearing the beaches has not wavered.
As is so often the case, the problem has, he says, been one of paperwork and bureaucracy.
