Panoramic lift officially presented in Puerto de Mazarrón
Great views over the Bay of Mazarrón from this new urban facility alongside the Rihuete beach
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, has finally visited the new panoramic lift on the seafront alongside the Paya del Rihuete to inaugurate the facility, which was budgeted to cost over two thirds of a million euros.
The lift connects Calle Viriato on the seafront with Avenida Narciso Yepes, and is billed as an important improvement in accessibility and modernization in the town of Puerto de Mazarrón. Apparently it responds to “historic demands” of local residents, especially those of advanced age and/or limited mobility.
Of course, as well as providing a connection between the high and low ground in Puerto de Mazarrón, the glass-panelled lift also regales pedestrians with great views of the Bay of Mazarrón, looking out towards Isla Plana, La Azohía and Cabo Tiñoso.
The lift has been one of Gines Campillo’s flagship projects since his re-election as Mayor in 2023, promoting it as part of a “wider strategy of urban improvement and renovation of public spaces” (according to a Town Hall press release on 15th May 2026). In order to protect it from possible vandalism, there are two security cameras in the vicinity of the lift, and logically enough the Town Hall has called upon users to refrain from inappropriate behaviour.
