October 9 to 11 Oktoberfest in San Javer

A weekend of live music with German beer and food on the coast of the Mar Menor

October 9 to 11 Oktoberfest in San JaverThe annual Oktoberfest makes a welcome return to San Javier over the holiday weekend of October 9 to 11, bringing with it a series of live musical performance as well as the renowned typical German beer and food which has proved so popular in recent years.

Time to dig out the old Lederhosen and Dirndl as the municipal marquee opens at the Recinto Ferial to the public on October 9 from 20.00 to 2.00 with the official opening ceremony at 21.00, and then on Saturday 10th and on Sunday 11th from 12.00 to 2.00. Throughout the three days the area will be transformed with the Oktoberfest tents typically found at the world-renowned festival in Munich, recreating a Bavarian atmosphere with themed costumes, live music, a German 'biergarten' (beer garden), and gastronomy.

Gluten-free and non-alcoholic beers are also available, while among the food are various types of German sausages, roast chicken and hamburgers.

All proceeds from the festival are donated to charity, and the live music scheduled is as follows:

Friday October 9 (open 20.00 to 02.00)

23.00: Pop and rock music from Mr Hyde.

Saturday October 10 (open 12.00 to 2.00)

16.00: The Aparatus Band (pop rock)

18.00: Paloma Sin Basilio

22.30: La Calle (pop rock)

Sunday October 11 (open 12.00 to 19.00)

16.00: Antonio Micol (flamenco and rumba)

18.00: Bloody Mess

22.30: Kar P Diem

And can you afford to stay up late with a copule of beers on the Sunday? YES, as the following day is a national holiday all over Spain!
