October 7 Bird spotting and nature between in the countryside of Alhama de Murcia
Learn about the birdlife between the flat land of the Guadalentín valley and the mountains of Sierra Espuña
The second World Migratory Bird Day of 2025 falls on 11th October, and one of the events being held to mark the occasion is this guided 5-kilometre walk in the Sierra de la Muela, the hills just between the town of Alhama and the higher mountains of Sierra Espuña. For birdwatchers this is an interesting area, between the mountains and the flat, low ground of the Guadalentín valley, and along the way participants will learn a little about the species which live here, the challenges they face and the impact of climate change.
The route is an easy one and is suitable for children aged over 9, with the visit lasting approximately from 9.30 to 13.00. The activity is free of charge but prior registration is required online here.
For more local news, events and visiting information contact the tourist office (telephone 968 633512) or go to the home page of Alhama Today.
