October 3 to 30 Art exhibition by internationally known artist José Royo in Lorca
“Essence” by Royo at the Palacete del Huerto Ruano in Lorca
José Royo was born in Valencia in 1941 and has made his name as an artist through his post-impressionist work as he has travelled the globe almost incessantly.
He has spent much of his life in North America and while his work has continued apace this exhibition at the Huerto Ruano venue in Lorca is the first time works from his “Essence” series have been on display in Spain. The official opening of the exhibition is on Friday 3rd October and after that admission is free until 30th October, within the opening hours of 11.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 20.00.
On this occasion Royo is working with paintings which, according to local Councillor Santiago Parra, have made him “one of the key artistic figures of our times”. His work has been exhibited in a variety of locations which illustrate his globe-trotting, such as the Coral Springs Museum in Miami, the Museo Diocesano in Barcelona, the Haggim Museum in Stockton (California), the Artrium in Geneva, the Museu Miramar in Sitges and the Palau de la Música in his native city of Valencia.
