October 27 Free Concierto Sentido music concert in Caravaca
On Sunday October 27, you can enjoy the third of the ‘Conciertos Sentidos’ series of classical music concerts at the Barranda Museum of Ethnic Instruments in Caravaca de la Cruz, which have been brought back to the municipality this year by the Town Council after a 15-year hiatus.
This cycle of concerts, which take place in a museum which houses the impressive Blanco Fadol collection of instruments from around the world, will consist of performances on the last Sunday of the month, bringing international melodies to northern Murcia.
In the third such concert on Sunday October 27, duo Milo ke Mandarini from the Spanish region of Extremadura will astound with their blend of Mediterranean melodies using traditional instruments.
Caravaca’s Councillor for Tourism, José Santiago Villa, said, “This cycle is based on the very essence of the museum of Barranda, where the extensive collection of instruments of the musicologist Blanco Fadol is exhibited, a reference point for ethnic music in Spain. The concerts will feature a wide variety of melodies from different cultures and origins, such as Mediterranean, Andalusian, Celtic and Sephardic music, among others.”
Throughout 2024, Caravaca is celebrating its Holy Jubilee Year, and there is a massive influx of tourism to the town from across Spain and the world as pilgrims and non-religious tourists flood to this corner of Murcia to take advantage of the increased tourist offer.
As José Santiago Villa has pointed out, “The Jubilee Year 2024 is the ideal moment to recover… this cultural activity, which was so popular while it was held, adding a new musical incentive for the residents of the districts and the town centre as well as for the thousands of people who are visiting us.”
The concert will be at 1pm, ending just in time to enjoy a nice lunch in Barranda village or Caravaca town afterwards.
Entrance to see the concert is free and no prior booking is required. Anyone is allowed in but be sure to arrive early as once the capacity of the museum’s interior auditorium is reached, no one else will be allowed in.
