Centuries of glorious history and majestic nobility, reflected in the magnificent buildings of the old city centre, have only left Lorca thirsting for more renown and fame, and on 25th October the achievements of the city could see another magnificent episode added to the archives when an attempt is to be made on the world record for simultaneous beer drinking.
This is one of the highlights of the Acho Beer Fest 2025, which brings together beer, food and music, with no fewer than 15 live concerts being held during the two weekends which the event in the car park at the visitors’ centre in the former Convent of La Merced spans. Approximately 30,000 people are expected to attend between 17th and 26th October, bringing a boost to the tourism and hospitality sectors of Lorca’s economy, quite a success story which began with a few friends getting together in the “Río” district of Lorca and which by last year attracted thousands to the central Plaza de España.
Those wanting to take part in the attempt on the simultaneous drinking record will need to register to do so beforehand, and if it is successful it is hoped that the Prestige will attract still more visitors to the next edition of the festival.
