October 12, 19 and 26 Open days at the Yecla castle archaeological site
Free visits to the site of the 11th-century former fortress on what is still known as the Castle Hill in Yecla
Work is continuing at the archaeological site of Hisn Yakka, the former castle of Yecla on the hill which is now home to the Santuario de la Virgen del Castillo and the Museo Mariano, and this October open days are being held to enable visitors to see for themselves and understand the remains which are being uncovered.
Three visits take place on the Sundays of 12th, 19th and 26th October, beginning at 11.30, 12.00 and 12.30. The visits are free of charge but visitor numbers are limited to 25 per group, so hurry to reserve your place by calling the Casa Municipal de Cultura de Yecla on 968 790901 (open weekdays 9.00 to 13.00).
More visiting information is available from the tourist office of Yecla (email turismo@yecla.es) or, for more local events, news and visiting information in English, go to the home page of Yecla Today.
