October 10 to 12 Las Cocinas del Jubileo gastronomy fair returns to Caravaca
A gourmet market, Michelin-starred chefs. showcooking and new experiences for all in the centre of Caravaca
Showcasing the gastronomic richness of the region of Murcia, this year's Las Cocinas del Jubileo gastronomic fair in Caravaca is sponsored by the Camino de la Cruz Foundation in collaboration with Caravaca Town Hall, and features more than 20 tasting points as well as numerous parallel activities, such as the 'Gastrolandia' children's gymkhana, workshops, pairings, musical performances and experiences related to the world of cooking presented by renowned chefs.
All of which makes this an event not to be missed!
At last year’s event more than 20,000 portions of tapas were served and this time round, for the 8th edition, the programme is even broader, with more establishments taking part and a host of new activities in the Paseo de la Corredera and Plaza San Juan de la Cruz.
The event takes place during the weekend of the annual Feria of Caravaca, adding yet another dimension to a couple of days which already of great importance to various sectors of the local economy, including agricultural machinery, car sales and of course the hospitality industry, which includes bars and restaurants. By implication, the celebrations are also important for tourism, and at the same time it is worth mentioning that a part of the revenue generated by Las Cocinas del Jubileo will be donated to the nuns of the Poor Clares order, perpetuating the historical and religious heritage of the city.
Among the most popular aspects of the event are the tapas zone – always a firm favourite! – and the musical performances. The local hostelries taking part include the Molière Resto-Bar & Grill, Restaurante La Bodega, Croqueta y Diva, Gran Vía Casino Gastroteca, Foodie Experience, Oxox, El Patio de mi Casa, Quesos TGT, Reina and the wines of D.O.
The gourmet market in Plaza San Juan de la Cruz is a new addition this year and provides a showcase for gastronomic enterpises such as El Colmado de María José, Vermut Marulanda, Kombucha Marcha, Cremoso Postres and La Batanera.
And for the kiddies, there are workshops, tastings, showcookings and other experiences.
Further details of the programme are included in the Feria programme: click here.
