November 9 Wine tourism marathon in Yecla
A morning of guided visits, tastings, food and pairings on a whistle-stop tour of Yecla wineries!
Yecla celebrates World Wine Tourism Day on Sunday 9th November with this special wine marathon, an all-morning experience during which all are welcome to enjoy the local gastronomy, countryside and wine!
The event begins at 10.00 at the winery of Bodegas Barahonda although those requiring coach transport can pay an additional 7 euros to leave from the old railway station at 9.30, and from then until lunchtime it’s non-stop wine tourism! The gruelling schedule is full of tortures such as wine tastings, guided visits and pairings, and is apt only for those with an appetite and an appreciation of wine!
To make things worse, prizes are available at every stop!
Programme
10.00: A country breakfast at Bodegas Barahonda, prepared by Bar Ideal, followed by a tasting of the wines produced here. Prize draw for a voucher for two breakfasts and a bottle of wine.
11.30: Snacks at Bodegas Evine, prepared by Carnicerías Carmelo Puche, followed by wine tasting and a draw for a selection of meat products and a bottle from each winery.
12.30: Bodegas Conde de Montornés, with tastings of wines produced both by the winery itself and by Bodegas La Purísima. Accompanied by the traditional “Libricos” of Yecla. Prize draw for a selection of products from the Wine Route (including Libricos, Deortegas olive oil, wine and more).
The price of registration is 22 euros, including all tastings, with optional extras 7 euros for coach transport and 4 euros for a commemorative wine glass. Registration can be completed online here or via the tourist office of Yecla (email turismo@yecla.es).
More visiting information is available from the tourist office of Yecla or, for more local events, news and visiting information in English, go to the home page of Yecla Today.
