November 9 Jubilee Year municipal bands concert in Caravaca de la Cruz
Over 1,000 musicians commemorate the Holy Jubilee year with tunes by local composer Ignacio Sánchez Navarro
The 10th annual festival of Bands in the Region of Murcia is taking place in Caravaca de la Cruz on Saturday 9th November, one of the highlights being a performance by all of the 1,000+ musicians attending!
Over 20 bands are taking part in the festival, which is being held in Caravaca as the Holy Jubilee Year of 2024 nears its end: the last Jubilee in 2017 was commemorated in similar fashion and proved a great success.
The schedule for the day includes the following:
9.30: Official reception of all the bands taking part in Avenida de Los Andenes.
10.45: The bands begin making their way from El Templete to the Basilica- Sanctuary, along Calle Corredera, Calle Poeta Ibáñez, Cuesta de las Herrerías, Calle Mayor and past the parish church of El Salvador.
12.00: Pilgrims’ Mass at the Basilica.
14.00: Fellowship lunch for the bands at Salones Castillo.
16.45: A musical parade to the Plaza del Templete along Paseo de Santa Clara, Calle de las Monjas, the Plaza del Arco, the Gran Vía and Calle Maruja Garrido.
18.00: All of the bands unite to play Caravaca hymns and tunes composed by local musician Ignacio Sánchez Navarro in the Plaza del Templete.
