November 29 to January 26 Coimbra del Barranco Ancho exhibition in Jumilla
The exhibition is dedicated to pioneering archaeologist Ana María Muñoz Amilibia
Ana María Muñoz Amalibia was an archaeologist who was born in northern Spain but eventually accepted a post at the University of Murcia, where she remained from 1975 to 1990.
During these years she undertook important work at the remains of the Iberian settlement of Coimbra del Barranco Ancho, in the mountains of Santa Ana outside Jumilla, following in the footsteps of local archaeologist Jerónimo Molina (after whom the museum where this exhibition is being held was named). She investigated not only the residential area of the settlement but also the necropolis sites (or burial grounds) of Barranco and La Senda.
Most of her work, though, was on the village itself, where she found various rectangular homes containing two or three rooms. These homes date from the 4th century BC although some were made larger in following decades.

The exhibition can be visited at the Museo Arqueológico Jerónimo Molina during museum opening hours (Tuesday to Saturday 10.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 20.00, Sundays and public holidays 11.00 to 14.00).
