November 28 Candlelit concert by the Galatea choir to commemorate the Civil War air raid bombing of Cartagena
The 4-hour raid took place in 1936 in the early days of the Spanish Civil War
In the early days of the Spanish Civil War, on 25th November 1936, the city of Cartagena was subjected to a 4-hour aerial bombing attack which shook the city to its core, and the date is still remembered every year in this part of the Region of Murcia.
This year a special concert is being held at the Civil War shelter/museum on Friday 28th November at 20.30, featuring the Galatea choir with a programme of emotional songs such as “Akai Hana, Shiroi Hana” by M. Nakabayasi, “Cantares” by Joan Manuel Serrat and “Sure on this shining night” by M. Lauridsen.
