November 24 Hiking route to the churches in the municipality of San Javier
Distances of 15 and 26 kilometres in and around San Javier to raise funds for church missions
This unusual hiking route on the flat hinterland of the Mar Menor in and around San Javier follows a route which is defined by the location of local churches, some in the town and others in small villages, and can be undertaken over distances of 15 or 26 kilometres.
The longer route begins bright and early at 6.00 at the parish church in San Javier, and then includes visits to Pozo Aledo, El Mirador, La Grajuela, San Blas, Ciudad del Aire, Lo Pagán, La Ribera, Los Pescadores and back to San Javier. The map of the route can be found by clicking here.
For those who don’t fancy such an early start, they can join the 125-km walk starting at 9.00, also at the main church of San Javier, which will join the early starters in San Blas. Again, the route map can be found here.
Registration is open online here and costs just 5 euros, with the proceeds going to Catholic missions all over the world. Payment can be made by Bizum (“Donativo” or “Donar a ONG”) on 02928 with the description “RUTA DE LAS ERMITAS, Javierada Mar Menor 2024 + surname”.
