November 23 Guided tour of the heraldic decorations on buildings in the centre of Jumilla
Learn about the history of Jumilla through the stories of the families who governed the town in the past
There are many ways to enjoy the old town centre of Jumilla – sightseeing, lunch in one of the local restaurants and tasting the acclaimed local wines, for example – but this tour on Sunday 30th November (in Spanish) offers a slightly different perspective.
While viewing the outside of some of the most important monumental buildings in the town, participants will learn about the history of how Jumilla grew in importance over the centuries through the heraldic adornments (coasts of arms and the like) of the noble families who governed over the area.
The price of joining the visit, which begins at 11.00 outside the Town Hall, is just 2.50 euros and reservations can be made either via the tourist office (Plaza del Rollo, 1, telephone 663 300779) or through the regional tourist board website here.
And when the tour finishes, you’ve got plenty of time afterwards to enjoy a hearty lunch in one of the welcoming restaurants in the old town, and take in some of the sights in and around the charming Plaza de Arriba!
For more local news, events and visiting information please contact the tourist office (telephone 968 780237, email oficinaturismo@jumilla.org) or go to the home page of Jumilla Today.
