November 22 Spanish arm wrestling championship in Alhama
The 23rd national championship nears it climax at the Pabellón de Deportes Adolfo Suárez in Alhama
Arm wrestling is generally a contest which takes place in bars or, partly as a joke, between father and son, but in fact there is a World Arm Wrestling Federation (WAF) and the Spanish equivalent, which is affiliated, holds an annual championship disputed in a series of events throughout the year in a variety of locations.
This year’s 23rd Copa del Rey pays a visit on Saturday 22nd November to the Pabellón de Deportes Adolfo Suárez in Alhama de Murcia, with the weigh-in taking place the day before between 17.00 and 21.00. This is an all-important moment in itself as competition is held in variety of different weight categories, as well as being split between men and women and left and right arm specialists.
The competition itself is an all-day affair, scheduled to run on the Saturday from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 16.30 to 20.30. Sadly for any budding enthusiasts, registration closed on 7th November, but spectators are of course welcome!
