November 16 Annual hiking route to all the churches of San Javier
Undertake a pilgrimage to honour San Francisco Javier during the fiestas held to commemorate his Feast Day
For the fourth time the “Ruta de las Ermitas” route is being held in San Javier as part of the Javiereña Mar Menor 2025 initiative to promote faith, nature and conviviality as hundreds of walkers contribute to the fiestas honouring San Francisco Javier (and coinciding with the fiestas which are held every year in the town).
This year two routes are available, the longer of them coming in at 22 km and setting out from the parish church in San Javier at 6.00 in the morning. The route includes Pozo Aledo, El Mirador, La Grajuela, San Blas, Ciudad del Aire, La Ribera and Los Pescadores before returning to the starting point.
The shorter 11-km route begins at 9.00 and includes San Blas, Ciudad del Aire, La Ribera and Los Pescadores before returning to the starting point.
Both groups meet at San Blas before continuing the walk together, and on completion of the hike they receive a traditional pilgrim’s cross.
Those wishing to take part are asked to make a donation of 5 euros by Bizum (number 02928), stating “RUTA – (name and surname)”. To register for the event please complete this form.
