November 15 to December 15 Marine fossils exhibition in Jumilla
Fósiles Marinos del Terciario Mioceno at the Jerónimo Molina Ethnography and Natural Science Museum in Jumilla
Among the many treasures housed in the Jerónimo Molina Ethnography and Natural Science Museum in Jumilla is a rare collection of fossils, including numerous “ichnites”– fossilized footprints – dating from the Tertiary. This is one of the most important collections of its kind in the world, illustrating a time when the high plateau on which Jumllla now stands was largely underwater (both seawater and inland lakes).
The marine fossils are the subject of this exhibition at the museum between November 15 and December 15, which can be visited during normal museum opening hours (Tuesday to Saturday 10.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 20.00, Sundays and public holidays 11.00 to 14.00).
If visiting Jumilla for the first time your first port of call should be the local tourist office (Plaza del Rollo, 1, telephone 968 780237 / 663 300779, email oficinaturismo@jumilla.org.
