New sports facilities on the beaches of Águilas

Better equipment and infrastructures could lead to more Águilas beach sports tournaments

The local Town Hall has completed a project to improve the sports equipment on beaches in Águilas, encouraging healthy activities among both residents and visitors.

The facilities installed include two beach football pitches, 4 beach volleyball courts, 4 beach handball pitches and 4 beach tennis courts, while there are also other additions such as 2 marker buoys, mobile stands for up to 110 people, 5 shaded marquees, 2 storage containers, 2 tripod-mounted stopwatches and an inflatable finish line arch (see image).

It is hoped that apart from augmenting the level of services provided at the beaches and promoting participation in open-air sports activities, these new features will also attract events and competitions while at the same time favouring the de-seasonalization of tourism in Águilas.
