New solar panels on the seafront auditorium in Águilas
Águilas Town Hall continues to prioritize sustainability and efficiency
The Auditorio y Palacio de Congresos Infanta Doña Elena on the seafront in Águilas may look like one of the most modern buildings in the town, but it has now been open to the public for as long as 15 years and in order to bring it in line with the latest in energy sufficiency standards solar panels have just been installed on the roof.
The elegantly sculpted and strikingly curvaceous Auditorium and Congress centre was inaugurated in March 2011 and is situated opposite the Playa de las Delicias, and it now boasts a solar electricity installation with a capacity of 100 kW and storage for 130 kWh, optimizing the performance of the system and, by implication, energy management.
It is believed that the auditorium will now be self-sufficient in terms of energy consumption, reducing both costs and CO₂ emissions. This, of course, is in line with the Town Hall’s commitment to sustainable tourism and the demands of increasingly environmentally aware audiences, while at the same time contributing to the achievement of the climate adaptation objectives outlined by the EU.
For more local events, news and visiting information, contact the tourist office of Águilas (telephone 968 493285) or go to the home page of Águilas Today.
