Murals unveiled in Águilas to celebrate the centenary of actor Paco Rabal

The stage and cinema actor, born in Custa de Gos, would have celebrated his 100^th birthday this year

Various events and activities are taking place in Águilas this year dedicated to actor Paco Rabal, who was born in the tiny village of Cuesta de Gos and would have celebrated his 100th birthday in March of this year, and this week two new murals have been officially presented by the Councillor for Culture, José Antonio Consentino, and film director Benito Rabal, the son of the actor.

One of the murals in the Plaza de Antonio Cortijos was created by P’Sman and shows Paco Rabal in the role of Azarías (from the iconic film Los Santos Inocentes, 1984), perhaps the most celebrated of his long career while the other is at the entrance of the local Casa de la Cultura, which is named after Águilas’ most famous son. Here he is shown with his wife, Asunción Balaguer, as a tribute to the couple and to the close ties which they maintained with their home town throughout their storied lives.
