

Guidelines for submitting articles to San Javier Today
Hello, and thank you for choosing sanjavier.today to publicise your organisation’s info or event.
San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:
Send an email to editor@spaintodayonline.com or contact@murciatoday.com
Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb
May 8 to 11 La Grajuela fiestas in honour of the Virgin of Fatima
The San Javier town will celebrate well into May with dances, processions food tastings and more
The little village of La Grajuela, just two kilometres from the town of San Javier, has an action-packed programme of events for all the family during the 2025 fiestas in honour of its patron saint, the Virgin of Fátima.
The celebrations kicked off on April 30 but the main weekend consists of a series of parties, food tastings and more over the weekend of May 8-11.
Festival highlights
The programme includes the following:
Thursday May 8
17.00: Groove to the talents of seniors participating in the ‘Got-Talent’ contest, exclusively for the elders, followed by a desserts competition.
Saturday May 10
8.30: Tantalise those taste buds with an old-fashioned "matanza", a pork and sausage extravaganza, followed by a sumptuous barbecue breakfast between 10.00 and 11.30.
10.30: Children's day begins, with games, bouncy castles, etc.
14.00: Lunch (mainly barbecued meat!) for all the community.
15.30: Coffee and entertainment.
21.00: Top off the night with the iconic Procession of the Virgin of Fátima, starting at Paraje Los Jiménez.
22.00: An evening of comedy and muisc with Arantxa Pons and Carlos Berrocal, ending with hot chocolate and buns.
Sunday May 11
8.00: Start off the morning with the scenic 8 kilometre ‘Walk through La Grajuela with Santos’, stopping by the Julio Martínez Museum.
14.00: Join fellow neighbours for a colossal paella feast, followed by coffee and a raffle.
19.30: Pay homage to the Virgin of Fátima during a moving Mass, enlivened by the Coros y Danzas del Mar Menor choir.
22.00: Closing firework display.
