May 7 to 10 The Phantom of the Opera in the city of Murcia
The most successful musical of all time at the Auditorio Víctor Villegas in Murcia
Ever since it was first performed in London in 1986, Andrew Lloyd Weber’s The Phantom of the Opera has been delighting and enthralling theatregoers all over the world, and it continues to do so as the show comes to the Auditorio Víctor Villegas in the city of Murcia from 7th to 10th May.
So far it is estimated that the show has been seen by more than 140 million people in 183 cities in 17 countries, and on Broadway it was a favourite throughout an incredible 35-year run!
The plot is inspired by Gaston Leroux’s novel of the same name, which was published in 1910, and concerns a mysterious musical genius who inhabits the tunnels and corridors underneath the Ópera in Paris. This enigmatic character has been disfigured since birth and hides his face behind a mask, tormented by his appearance and hiding away from the rest of the world.
But when he falls in love with soprano Christine Daaé he becomes her secret mentor, furthering her career from the shadows. Unfortunately, he has to compete for Christine’s affection with Raoul, Viscount of Chagny, and their rivalry lies behind the rest of the story.
The Spanish version of the stage musical is the fruit of a collaboration between Lloyd Weber (also responsible for "Cats", "Evita", Jesus Christ Superstar” and others) and the world famous Spanish cinema star Antonio Banderas.
The shows in Murcia take place as follows:
Thursday May 7: at 20.30.
Friday May 8: at 17.30 and 21.30.
Saturday May 9: at 17.30 and 21.30.

Tickets are available online here at between 39 and 70 euros – money well spent to see the most successful stage and screen musical of all time!
