Ten years after the MASS museum (Muso Azul de Semana Santa, run by the “Paso Azul” group which is one of the main protagonists in the spectacular annual Semana Santa parades) first opened to the public, a special exhibition is being held until 31st August featuring some of the embroideries, paintings, sculptures and other exhibits which have been displayed over the last decade.
“Memoria de una Decada” officially opens to the public on 28th May, the eve of the museum’s 10th anniversary, and among the artists whose work can be seen are painters Vicente Ruiz, Perla Fuertes, Manuel Coronado and Miguel García Peñarrubia, sculptors Francisco Salzillo (and others from his workshop), Ángeles Espinosa, Antonio Campillo and the Cava brothers, the embroidered bullfighting capes of Pepín Jiménez and Pedro Barrera, the oil painting of the Triumph of Christianity by Francisco Cayuela and numerous sketches by Lucas Cuenca for the embroidered cloaks worn by the cavalry Triumph of Christianity in the annual parade.
All exhibits are accompanied by information panels explaining their origin and significance.
