May 17 Free guided hike in the peaks of Sierra Espuña
Explore the high ground of south-eastern Murcia behind Totana and Alhama de Murcia
European Natura 2000 Day falls on 21st May this year and on the Sunday before a free 7-km guided walk is being held in the peaks of the Sierra Espuña, with information given (in Spanish) about the flora and fauna which live in the regional park of the high ground of south-eastern Murcia.
The walk begins at 9.00 and lasts for 5 hours, being described as of medium to high difficulty, and for this reason it is only open to over-12s. All participants must wear mountain walking boots and appropriate footwear, and there is a warning that some parts of the route are not appropriate for those who suffer from vertigo.
Registration is available online here from 2nd May at 9.30.
Click here to see the full programme of events like these in the “Mochila de Actividades” program organized by the regional government of Murcia during April, May and June.
