May 14 to 17 Museums Night events in Jumilla
The great local museums of Jumilla open late and events include concerts, escape rooms, guided tours and workshops
The small town of Jumilla in northern Murcia is blessed with far more than its fair share of history and museums, with the medieval castle standing high above it, prehistoric archaeological sites dotted around the nearby countryside and the legacy of local archaeologist and naturalist Jerónimo Molina on display at various locations in the municipality.
For this reason, there are a lot more events on and around the date of Museums Day, and this year they include concerts, an Escape Room, workshops, dramatized tours for children and a “micro-theatre” event.
Last year the activities attracted around 1,500 people and in 2026 the aim is to raise that figure still further with the following programme of events:
Thursday May 14
20.30: Presentation of the magazine Pleita 14, about the municipal museums of Jumilla, at the Wine Museum (with tasting included!).
Friday May 15
17.00 to 20.00: “Invasión Alienígena”, an escape room activity outside the museums and the Casa de la Música: registration is required beforehand using the accompanying QR code.
19.00: “Museos de Postal”, a painting workshop with Eduardo Gea at the Casa de la Música. Prior registration required.
21.00: A concert entitled “Museum: Noche de Musas” by the AJAM saxophone section at the Museum of Ethnography and Natural Science.
Saturday May 16
11.00: Free dramatized tour for children of the Museum of Ethnography and Natural Science entitled “Gamusino: el eslabón perdido”.
12.00: Free dramatized tour for children of the Archaeological Museum entitled “El Crepúsculo de Tanit”.
19.30: Micro-theatre in the garden of the Wine Museum.
21.00: “Violines del Rock”, a concert featuring the strings of the Cuarteto Macondo and tastings of DOP Jumilla wines, with visuals projected onto the façade of the Archaeological museum in the Plaza de Arriba.
Sunday May 17
11.00: “Enigma en el Museo”, an escape room activity at the Museum of Ethnography and Natural Science. Prior registration on 968 780740.
