May 10 Intermezzo in Los Alcázares, free concert of late 19th-century music composed in Spain and France
Debussy, Ravel, Falla and Granados recall the paintings of Sorolla with Duo Saxperience at the Town Hall of Los Alcázares
The 2026 “Intermezzo” series of free classical chamber music concerts, the seventh time it has been organized, continues in the Salón de Plenos of the Town Hall on Sunday 10th May with a selection of late 19th-century music intended to match the paintings of Joaquín Sorolla.
Sorolla (1863-1923) is famed for the “Visión de España” series., produced during and after his travels all over Spain observing the light, colours, traditions and folklore of different regions: and this later enabled him to recreate Castilla, Andalucía, Aragón, Navarra, the Basque Country, Catalunya, Galicia, Extremadura and Valencia.
in an attempt to match his images, Dúo Saxperience (saxophonist Antonio Cánovas and pianist Elena Miguélez) are performing works representative of the delicate lyricism of Isaac Albéniz, the refinement of Claude Déebussy and Maurice Ravel, the quintessential "Spanishness" of Manuel de Falla and the sensitivity of Albert Guinovart and Enrique Granados.
The event begins at 20.30 and these concerts are generally extremely well attended, so make sure you arrive in plenty of time to guarantee yourself a seat!
