May 1 to June 1 Km0 tapas treats at hostelries affiliated to the Jumilla Wine Route
A tapas route with a difference as Jumilla restaurants offer wine with their culinary snacks
The latest KM0 tapas route is being held throughout the month of May in the town of Jumilla and others in which wineries are affiliated to the Jumilla Wine Route, in the north of the Region of Murcia and also in the province of Albacete.
This is a tapas route with a difference: whereas most events of this kind place more importance on the food on offer than on the accompanying liquid refreshments, in Jumilla the emphasis is also on the locally produced wines, which are exported not only to other regions of Spain but all over the world. The Denomination of Origin Jumilla wines are also produced in other wine-making municipalities in the area, including Ontur and Hellín in the province of Albacete, and the list of participating restaurants reflects this geographical spread.
Each of those establishments will be offering sublime tapas, produced not for their cheapness but with the aim of achieving a quality matched by the accompanying DOP Jumilla wines. Scratch cards for on-the-spot prizes are given out, while those who complete the route will be eligible for a prize draw in which the winners receive trips for two to the wine producing areas of Bordeaux in France and Txakoli in the Basque Country, whole those with at least three stamps are guaranteed at least a small memento of their participation.
The 8 restaurants and bars taking part are Casa Sebastián, La Macarena, Reyes Católicos, Tres Soles, Venecia and Sota in Jumilla and Anygut and El Parque in Ontur, while the wines accompanying the tapas come from a total of 16 local bodegas,
