March 31 to April 28 Mayo making workshop in Alhama de Murcia
Take the plunge and take part in this year’s early May fiestas in Alhama!
As soon as Easter is over this year the town of Alhama will be preparing for its annual Mayos festivities, during which one of the most typical events is the “planting” of stuffed figures in tableaux representing scenes from everyday life in the streets around the centre.
It’s something of a shame that non-Spaniards often feel a little excluded from local fiestas of this kind, but in Alhama anyone with enough Spanish to get by can take part fully this year thanks to a 4-week workshop activity which is being held every Monday in the Parque La Cubana between 17.00 and 19.00 from March 31 to April 28. Get some top tips on how to make your own “Mayo” and set it up along with the rest of the town for the big day in early May!
Registration is either in person at the Casa de Cultura or by telephone on 968 631985 and the activity is completely free of charge.
For more information about Alhama, including news and upcoming events, visit the local tourist office or go to the home page of Alhama Today.
