Guidelines for submitting articles to San Javier Today
Hello, and thank you for choosing sanjavier.today to publicise your organisation’s info or event.
San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:
Send an email to editor@spaintodayonline.com or contact@murciatoday.com
Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb

March 13 to 22 Annual fiestas of San José in Puerto de Mazarrón
Music, fun for children and the traditional Falla and procession in Puerto de Mazarrón
The annual Fiestas in honour of San José in Puerto de Mazarrón are being held from March 9 to 19 with a full program including concerts, a fairground, the procession on the feast day of the saint and a tapas route.
The main focal point of the fiestas is Thursday March 19, the feast day of San José (and Fathers’ Day in Spain), and on the previous evening a large “falla” (papier mâché figure) is ceremonially burnt at the fairground at the beach of El Rihuete at 23.45.
The marquee at the Playa del Rihuete will also be hosting fairground attractions, while the tapas route lasts from March 14 to 22.
The full program of events includes the following:
Friday March 13
17.00: The fairground attractions open with a 2-for-the-price-of-1 offer alongside the beach of El Rihuete.
17.00: The maritime market opens on the Paseo del Rihuete.
19.00: Mass is followed by the opening speech of the fiestas in the church of San José.
Saturday March 14
A tapas route begins, lasting until 22nd March.
11.00 and 17.00: The maritime market and fairground attractions open.
22.30: Live music from Orquesta La Mundial at the municipal marquee on Paseo del Rihuete.
1.30: DJ music.
Sunday March 15
9.00: A hiking route begins, from the beach of El Rihuete to the Cabezo del Mojón mountain in Isla Plana. Click here for further details.
10.00 to 13.30: Classic cars and motorbikes,

17.00 Guau, a children’s musical show at the municipal marquee.
Tuesday March 17
17.00: The fairground attractions open with a 2-for-the-price-of-1 offer.
Wednesday March 18
17.00: The fairground attractions open.
22.00: A 90s themed festival.
23.45: The burning of the “falla” to celebrate the eve of San José.
Thursday March 19, the feast day of San José (and Fathers’ Day!)
11.00: Procession from the church to the seafront promenade.
12.00: Open-air Mass on the promenade.
13.00: The procession makes its way back to the church.
19.00: DJ music.
Friday March 20
Open doors day on the “Formentor” naby patrol ship, which is in Puerto de Mazarrón until 22nd March.
16.45: Cultural tour to the fish market in the port.
22.00: Seguridad Social in concert.
Midnight: a party with Ruby Rodríguez DJ
Saturday March 21
11.00: Free guided history tour of Puerto de Mazarrón: click here for further details.
12.00: A street parade in traditional “huertano” costume.

0.30: The music continues with Sergio Salinas DJ
Sunday March 22
11.00: The fairground opens for the last time.
