Makeover complete at the La Concha beach in the heart of Los Alcázares

The historic Playa de la Concha is right in the centre of Los Alcázares

The most traditional beach of Los Alcázares, the Playa de La Concha, has a new image to present to the public now that the Town Hall has completed an 18,000-euros project to renew and improve the seafront and facilities, without losing the essence of the stretch of sand which lay at the heart of the first growth of summer tourism in the area.

Among the elements included in the facelift are the installation of new bins and benches, the re-painting of the streetlamps and sports equipment, and the planting of new greenery along the front. In addition, art deco-style information panels have been included, the style chosen to blend in with the historic buildings such as the 100-year-old spa hotel of La Encarnación.

This is one of many improvements being carried out lately by the council, including the creation of new stretches of cycle lane, the incorporation of low-cost and energy-effective LED lighting, the development of the water sports beach and the upgrading of the toilet facilities, one of which is located at the beach of La Concha.

The main objective, though, is to ensure that bathing in the Mar Menor remains an attractive option, and the Town Hall has reaffirmed its commitment to obliging the regional government and other authorities to improve this aspect.
