Makeover and modernization completed at the beautiful botanical garden of Jumilla
The park in La Estacada has been delighting locals for over half a century
Although it’s not usually top of the list for visitors to Jumilla, surpassed by the castle and the historic buildings around the Plaza de Arriba, the botanical garden of La Estacada, just a couple of minutes’ drive outside the town centre, is one of the favourites among locals and is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon surrounded by gorgeous trees and impressive collection of plants, flowers, shrubs and bushes, and great care is always taken to ensure that it remains in prime condition throughout the year.
This year the garden has once again been improved, this time through regional government funding to the tune of 600,000 euros, and the completed work has been visited by the president of the Murcia government, Fernando López Miras in the company of the regional minister for tourism and local Mayoress Seve González, along with other local dignitaries. What they found was improved accessibility and a modernized watering system, along with (as is always the case) carefully looked-after plants, many of which have been renewed or replanted and a selection of over 150 species in the 35,000-square-metre area.
